• Keep all your windows and doors locked
• Remember to lock garages and outbuildings
  
• Add secondary locking to windows (if UPVC check with supplier)
• Add a door viewer, chain or hasp and mirror to the inside of doors
• Fit a deadlocking rim latch or five lever mortise lock to doors
• Fit deadlocks to patio doors and French windows
• Fit an ADT monitored alarm system
• Fit external programmed or sensored lighting
• Do not leave keys accessible via the letterbox or catflap
• Never leave valuables in sight through windows
• Fit a side gate; ideally one you can see through
• Plant prickly and spiky hedges or shrubs inside the rear perimeters
  and keep them trimmed low so that intruders aren’t hidden from
  the street
• Ensure the premises look occupied by with a lighting timer
• Never mention holidays or breaks on your answer machine, leave
  a car on the drive,always cancel milk and don’t leave notes on the
  window saying you’re out or away.
• Join your local Neighbourhood Watch and look out for each other
• Security mark your property with a UV invisible marker, include your
  postcode and house number
